The leaves of this tea are very thin, medium green and appear almost as threads. I can’t say I have seen many teas as impressive from a first glance.
It’s interesting how those beautiful whisps of leaves brew such a bright yellow-green liquor. I was expecting somethingjust a little bit darker.
The aromas are defined and subtle. Buttery and of lightly toasted bread… a very light grassiness is the only way you know this is a Sencha from the smell.
The flavor was unexpectedly subtle. Very lightly grassy. A slight creaminess or buttery quality allows this tea to coat the mouth. Sencha Ashikubo also has a light bite in the tail.
I recommend this tea very highly to fans of Japanese and Chinese greens. Fans of Senchas will enjoy this tea greatly, but those of you who enjoy Genmaicha or Houjicha are also probable to taking a liking to this tea as well.
