The insanely insane 5100 mile, 19 state, 9 day drive!
Earlier today I began to revisit my vacation plans coming up for late March. I was planning on hitting Orlando and Sarasota and leaving it at that and coming home. For whatever reason while I was explaining the new Google Maps "Add Destination" feature (I swear I'm the reason for its existence) I ended up using an example taking a route West from Cincinnati using multiple cities to connect with intermediately. I ended up connecting that trip plan with the one I already had. But then I felt that I was cutting out a huge opportunity to visit a massive swath of the East coast I have never been to. So I planned a massive freaking nineteen state trip hitting 20 cities and driving almost 5100 miles give or take. I'll reset the trip when I set out to clock it properly. :)Here's my Google Maps trip itinerary. It's a long ass 5100 mile, 20 city, 19 state, 9 day trip that could in fact kill me by the time its done. But I think it'll be one of the best experiences of my life.
I am not planning on spending any money on food. Instead I will be relying on my trusty rice cooker, tea pot, bottled water and the hospitality of my friends and family. The only thing I plan on spending money on will be gas, which I will need plenty of I am certain.
Here's the order of the stops.
1) Indianapolis on 3/16 for three hours for photos. 2) St. Louis on 3/17 for three hours for photos. Staying the night (3/16) with family) 3) Little Rock on 3/17 for three hours for photos and food. 4) Dallas/Fort Worth for on 3/18 for three hours for photos. Staying the night with friends. 5) Austin on 3/18 for three hours for photos. 6) Giddings, TX on 3/18 for two hours for photos. 7) San Antonio on 3/18 for three hours, dinner and photos. Staying the night with a friend. 8) Corpus Christi on 3/19 for two hours for photos. 9) Houston on 3/19 for two hours for photos. 10) New Orleans on 3/20 for five hours for photos, experience of Katrina devastation and food. 11) Inverness, FL on 3/21 to visit my brother. Staying the night and having dinner. 12) Orlando on 3/21 to visit friends, for photos and food. Five hours. 13) Boca Raton on 3/22 for two hours for photos, visiting co-workers from the 'other' office, and food. 14) Sarasota on 3/22 for a Spring Training Reds Game and photos. Five hours. 15) Orlando on 3/22 again, but only to crash with friends for the night, a late night meal and photos. 16) Charleston, SC on 3/23 for two hours for photos. 17) Charlotte, NC on 3.23 for two hours for photos. 18) Baltimore on 3/23 crash at Uncle's house. 3/24 for three hours for photos. 19) Philadelphia on 3/24 for three hours for photos. 20) Pittsburgh on 3/24 for two hours for photos. 21) Cincinnati on 3/24 Home for sleep. And finally 3/25 for laundry and wind-down and sleepy time.
