Math Whiz-Kid Finds Issue With Math Exhibit in Science Museum
This awesome little third grade kid in North Carolina went to a commercial science center known as "Discovery Place" and found an error in a methematical forula designed to allow you to calculate the number of Jelly Belly jelly beans in a pyramid. It turns out that the equation called for dividing the results in half when it had already compensated fo this by providing measurements for the pyramid that were half of what they should be.While some may find such an event to be a great indicator or educational progress in the United States, please bear in mind that his mother was formly practicing nuclear medicine and his father was an industrial engineer. Additionally he has been shown to be very prodigious with Mathematics in general, which makes him an exception to the rule. Additionally while his individual results may be anomalous I wouldn't assume that there aren't a great many problems with other exibits of like fashion in other locations around the United States. I don't portend to offer a solution to the issue. Nor do I condone wasting tax funds on fixing issues which should be noted well in advance of their ever seeing public light.
I would, however, like to offer my congratulations to 8 year old Palmer Garrison who was prodigious enough to note the mistake, and brave enough to bring it to light.
